Air Filter Tips

Blog by: Dennis, President of Gopher Heating

It’s no secret that air filters are an important part of your HVAC system – they keep the air in your home pure, they keep you healthy when they’re clean.. the list goes on. Today we’ve got some tips to make sure you’re making the most of your air filters and HVAC system, and keeping you and your family healthy and comfortable.

  • Buy at least three filters a time and store them near your furnace. This will reduce any procrastination to change your air filters when necessary, and in turn you’ll be keeping the air in your home pure and healthy.
  • Always turn off your furnace at the breaker panel before replacing the air filter. It’s the easiest way to ensure your safety from any electrical shocks.
  • Your home environment and how often you run the heat or air can affect how dirty your air filter is. If you have no pets or few items collecting dust in your home, your filter will not get dirty as fast.
  • If you are unsure about what type, size, or style of air filter you need, or if you’re unsure how to change out the filter, always call a professional to help. They can show you the proper needs of your HVAC system and it’s air filters.
